And it does a pretty good job of it. But it's awkward to use, with several hand and finger positions for various sharpening tasks. Those fingers always seem to be kind close to the moving, and getting sharper, blade. I thought I wanted to return it, but it gives good sharpening. Wear cut protection gloves and have at it!
I’ve sharpened my own knives with stones for 45+ yrs. Very talented by now.
This sharpener does nearly as good a job on most knives and better on some of them - in 1/10th the time. Amazing. As I get older I am tired of constantly spending time sharpening knives and this device take seconds per knife, not minutes. I my coordination and eyesight fades, this device is a blessing for how safe it is to use vs hand sharpening. I plan on getting my siblings each one for their birthday. Very pleased with this product.
So far so good, so far this sharpener it’s performing excellent.
I love this knife sharpener. It has made all my knives like new. So much better than the electric model I was using and I feel good about the fact that I am doing it correctly and not taking off metal every time I sharpen. Do not hesitate this is the best knife sharpener on the market
This thing is dope!!!! Great gift for friends/family/yourself if you care at all about your knives and your sanity. A dull knife can be the most dangerous tool in a kitchen. This sharpener is well worth the $. Highly recommend!
Sharp made simple. Brod & Taylor's Knife Sharpeners are built with a unique sharpening technology to sharpen any knife with ease. Ultra-hard, precision ground tungsten-carbide sharpening surfaces, like those used in high-precision machine tools, quickly create a more perfect “v” shape and a superior cutting edge. The carbide sharpeners are mounted on patented spring-action bars that adjust automatically to different blade angles. With the variable angle capability, our sharpeners work beautifully on standard knives, serrated knives, single-bevel Japanese knives, hunting and pocket knives, and more.
Technology. Brød & Taylor sharpeners use two extremely hard, man-made tungsten carbide sharpeners ground to a specialized shape. Mounted on a spring-action bars, the patented system functions as distinctly different sharpeners, with the function determined by the angle of the knife as it is pulled through. They are unique in their ability to perform four knife sharpening functions:
Hone. With the knife tip up - realign a rolled edge without removing metal. Great for daily maintenance.
Sharpen. With the knife tip down - quickly restore the correct bevel shape to very dull or damaged knives.
Serrated. For serrated knives, pull the knife through at an angle to hone and sharpen each serration.
Polish. Create a super-smooth and sharp edge by widening the angle and polishing back and forth.
